Her Hands

Technically, infant motor development begins at the head/neck and works down the body from there.  Almost daily, I hear refrains of how strong Lucie is or how well she holds up her head.  I can’t deny that this is true, but for me the milestone that always catches my eye with a new baby is the awareness of hands.

For any baby, but especially a Montessori baby, it all starts with the hands.  They are amazing little vehicles for exploring and learning.  Before we know it Lucie will be using her hands to learn all about the world, but for now she is content to simply learn about her hands!
